My name is Steven
Michael Coghill (e-mail me). I was
born on July 28, 1955 in Fort Thomas, Kentucky (which is just across the
river from Cincinnati, Ohio). I
live with my family in
Beavercreek, Ohio (a community East of
Dayton, Ohio). My mom was Joan, and
my dad was Fred. Mom died in August of 1985, and dad died in January of
1997.I attended Johnson Elementary School for K-2, Woodfill
Elementary School from 3-6, and Highlands High School for 7-12 (class of
1973). I had several favorite teachers during primary and secondary
education. I had many
favorite teachers
during these years.
After high school, I attended Northern
Kentucky University until May, 1976. At that time
NKU hired me
as their 2nd-Shift computer operator,
and, after six months, I was promoted to the programming staff. During
my time as an programmer I learned COBOL, IBM Assembler, FORTRAN, RPG II
and DOS/JCL. When the PDP-11/60 arrived at NKU and the DECsystem-1091
arrived at the University of Louisville, I also served as system manager
for the PDP and liaison to the DECsystem. This introduced me to RSTS/E,
TOPS-10, MACRO-11, MACRO-10, ALGOL, PASCAL, BASIC, BASIC PLUS, and other
sundry DEC utilities. I left NKU to work for my Digital Equipment
Corporation.
I worked for Digital Equipment Corporation (now
HP since they bought Compaq bought
Digital in June of 1998, and HP bought Compaq in 2002) from November,
1979 until May, 2000. I left as a Solution Architect for the Year 2000
practice of Network and Systems Integration Services (NSIS).
In May, 2000 I formed my own consulting business, Sunergos Solutions,
Inc. My customers included Reynolds & Reynolds, Relizon, Miami Valley
RTA and H & R Block. I provided consulting on Compaq's OpenVMS operating
system.
In August, 2001 H & Block made
me an offer I couldn't refuse and I became their employee. I am the
system manager for the RapidRefund and TaxCut mainframe computers.
1979 was a momentous year. I changed jobs (Nov.), moved to
Middletown, Ohio (15-Dec), and got married (22-Dec). I married Ellen
Austing in our church in Ft. Thomas. My oldest son is Brandon, and my
youngest son is Brent .
